GENERAL
DESCRIPTION:
A ditertiary, bicyclic alcohol of the formula C20H36O2
produced by the hydrocarbon solvent extraction of the plant Salvia sclarea L. (fam. Labiatae).
PROPERTIES:
Sclareol is an off-white to amber colored solid.
The odor has a faintly woody characteristic;
balsamic and amber-like.
Sclareol as supplied has a minimum purity
of 85%.
Sclareol is soluble in most organic solvents.
One gram in three ml. of 95% ethyl alcohol will form a
clear solution.
PACKAGING:
Packed in five-gallon resin-lined pails, 55-gallon fiber drums,
or corrugated boxes labeled according to purchaser’s specifications.
HANDLING & STORAGE:
Store in tightly closed containers.
